Unable to install Minecraft Java, error code 0x80131509

Have you tried on anything on your PC yet? This problem happens in any other game that you tried to install on your PC?

There are a couple of things we could try:

So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

Thanks for the quick answer. I managed to find the Java folder and tried inserting the code on the latest version installation, but it gives me this error:

Your Java Runtime is incompatible. Please edit your installation to use the bundled Java Runtime.

I assume the Java version isn't compatible with the latest Minecraft version? However, when I tried with a 1.8.9 installation, I got another error. First it opens a Java code window and then it gives me this error on the launcher:

The game crashed: initializing game

Error: org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated

I don't get an error code accept for "an error occurred on our end" and a manual install also does not work.

Also is their three packages for the minecraft launcher?

One that is for both java edition and inecragt for Windows

The second java edition

The third minecraft for windows.

I did eventually get a version to work since the old launcher redirected me to the new launcher which I installed and did let me install minecraft for windows version.

However the store version which downloads java edition and something else never worked.

Not by reseting not by uninstalling and reinstalling not by downloading from the minecraft website and manually downloading.

I am having a similar issue. Have been trying to figure out a solution for weeks now. So, I go to the minecraft page for the java download. I attempt to purchase the game. It logs me into my microsoft account. It then presents a box allowing me to download Minecraft for either Windows 10/11 or Windows 7/8. I am running Windows 11 so choose accordingly. It downloads the appropriate installer. I then attempt to open that file and am immediately presented with the error code box that was reported at the start of this thread. The installer does open in the background and if I close the error code message box, I can click the check box to accept the terms/conditions in the installer. The installer then looks like it is beginning the install but the progress bar never moves.

Any help would be appreciated! As it stands now, I am unable to install Minecraft Java so there is no uninstall that is needed as it currently isn't installed on my machine.

I set all xbox related services to automatic and started them. There are no "gaming services".

Since I reinstalled windows last night "Minecraft for windows" is the only game that has successfully installed through the Xbox app. Ive attempted many times today to install the title "Minecraft Java Edition" which the Xbox app says I "own" and to "install" but continue to run into an error 0x00000001. As we speak I am attempting to install Halo: The Master Chief Collection but like the previous title "Minecraft Java Edition", it has failed to download.

I am able to successfully launch and Play "Minecraft for Windows" but am currently Unable to download any other title.
