  1. Unable to install any games due to gaming services

I purchased game pass on 09/06/23 to play Starfield. It stated that I needed to download gaming services. I did that and restarted. It continually says that Gaming services has to be downloaded. I have checked services and Gaming services is downloaded. I have followed the steps outlined in "Troubleshoot issues with the Xbox App for Windows" which uses the powershell to uninstall and reinstall. There is also a Beta tool to repair gaming services and that did not work. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. I am running windows 10 if that is at all important.

    :)

Additionally, here the troubleshooting steps that we can perform:

    1. Make sure Windows is up to date

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
    • On Windows 10, select Update & Security.
    • On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available including optional updates for your device.
    • Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
    • Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
    2. Update your Windows and device drivers

    > For the best game performance, make sure your system’s video card drivers (or display adapter drivers) are up to date. Drivers are available on the support website for your computer manufacturer, or if your computer system is custom built, on the video card manufacturer’s support website. Updating video card drivers can resolve game crashes, improve frame rates, and improve overall game performance.

    3. Make sure Xbox app is up to date

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
    • Select Library.
    • Under Updates & downloads, check if there is any updates available for the Xbox app. If an update is available, select Update.
    4. Make sure you are signed in to the Xbox app and the Store with the same account.

    > To make sure your permissions for the game can be validated, be sure to sign in to both the Store and the Xbox app using the same account that was used to purchase the game.

    5. Uninstall and reinstall Gaming Services

    • Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
    • In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
      get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    • In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
      start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
    • Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    • Restart your device and try to install the game again.

Gaming Services failed with error code: 0x80080005

I only have one "gaming services" and it is unable to start due to the error above, which I believe stems from the original problem of my post, since I can't install gaming services through the Microsoft store.

    Pc Game Pass

I tried to proceed through the steps you laid out but the first recommendation you provided I was unable to run the notepad file as a administrator or at all, as in there was no option to run this new file at all. Followed through the second recommendation you laid out, now the gaming service is unable to be downloaded due to still showing as the gaming service app installed to the computer, also now unable to play other games due to the gaming service being uninstalled but still showing to being an app on the computer. If I go through the second recommendation again then the files GamingServices and GamingServicesnet are no longer present. To clarify a bit more if I attempt to play a game through the xbox app that was previously working it will redirect me to the windows store and pull up the gaming service app but will not allow the gaming service app to be downloaded and only shows Utilities and tools as the only available button to be pushed as if it has already been downloaded. Due to this I have now uninstalled and reinstalled the xbox app again to see if this would fix it, but this did not change anything.

It is either a windows error or Gaming services app error. This originated when I was unable to start my game and was redirected to install gaming services.
