    Unable to install any games, and the games I had installed aren't playing


    Error Code 0x80242020 when trying to download game on Xbox(Beta), this has now been happening for almost a week.

    At first it wouldn't let me play the games I had downloaded, now it starts downloading and stops, giving that error code.

    Following the advice on the site I've restarted the PC, confirmed that I am logged in to Xbox Live, confirmed that I have admin rights and that I have enough drive space, removed and reinstalled gaming services and Xbox(Beta), and I still can't download,
    install or play any games.

    This is the 2nd time this happens in the last couple of months, any ideas how to fix this?

    I had this set up already, I did double check it, and even the setting within Xbox(beta) to download and save location points to my D: drive, still doesn't work.

    I did some digging and found this on a Microsoft post about it and it's working perfect for me. Installing to my HDD instead of my C: drive currently.

    • Either select the link under the message to go to Settings, or press the Windows key and selecting
      Settings > System > Storage. Select Change where new content is saved.
    • Using the menu under Where apps will be saved to, choose the drive you want.

    Can't get any backward compatible games to work.

    Unfortunately this has not fixed the problem and I am still unable to play any of the backwards compatible games. I'm losing confidence in Xbox with every problem that I've had with installations and running games.

    That''s fine, I have no issues reinstalling the games. The drive I was trying to install them to was clean (newly formatted) - the old installations where in a separate external disk with the rest of my backups.

    Thanks for the reply and sorry, that wasn't clear - I installed it fresh from a newly downloaded/created USB. I nuked all partitions on the system drive as well, so no chance of any files left behind.

    However, I did have a Microsoft Apps folder left over on one of the secondary drives (the original D: mentioned above. I can't see how windows would even know about it, but...

    I'm now formatting both secondary drives (I found no way to delete the old windows apps folders, even after taking ownership and changing permissions... just got nested "this file does not exist any more" errors though I could clearly the files sitting there on the folder. I *hate* UWP.

    Once everything is clean, I'll reinstall Windows from USB again and see what happens...
