Hdmi1.4 is ancient so is hdcp1.4 you are talking about tech released over 10 years ago

He wants to run HDR on 1080 with hdmi 1.4

You are going to get flickering

HDMI scales down not up when dealing with older standards

That tv he is using is to sony ps4 since it only supports 1

So would I be right in thinking that while I can't make use of the HDR settings on Xbox, on PS4 I can?

To use HDR with Xbox you need a TV that has 4k. From the link you sent your TV it appears to be Full HD.

It won't even support hdr let alone hdr10.

1080p is rare support for hdr

You need at least 2 for hdr and 2.2 for hdr10

Apps won't accept the hdcp that old to do hdr and yes that's why sony doesn't support uhd on ps4

You need the hdcp 2 for 4k apps
