Unable to Download Latest Xbox System Update - Stuck at 0%

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues downloading updates on your Xbox. Do you receive any error message that you can share?

I understand that you already restarted your console. However, I want to make sure that your cache will be deleted as well. To do this, we can have to reset your power supply through a power cycle. Kindly follow the steps below.

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 50 seconds.

Important: Make sure that you wait at least 50 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

3. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Important If your console is in Sleep mode, the above steps will shut the console off completely. Sleep mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying "Xbox on," won't be enabled until you restart the console.

Once your console boots up, do not open other application. Just go straight to software update and see if the percentage will now move.

Are you unable to update the latest system update successfully?

You may download the latest update from Microsoft servers at:
www.xbox.com/system-update-cd



Once downloaded you can burn it onto a CD-R and insert that disc into your console and reboot. The system should update.



If you are unable to do this for some reason then you can try the follow steps:

• Clear your system caches from the storage screen
• Reboot console
• Attempt to download the update.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Thank you so much for letting me know and I apologize for the trouble. We may need to reset the console keeping games and apps through the Xbox Troubleshooter page. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, and games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

"1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone."

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox" then "Reset and keep my games and apps".

Did all of the above and it shows a black screen but the xbox is still on.
