    Unable to Download items from Store: "does not work on this device"


    Back when it launched, I bought The Outer Worlds digitally through Amazon for Microsoft Store. I uninstalled it after playing, and pre-purchased the Expansion Pass through Microsoft Store. Now that the DLC has come out, I went to reinstall, and was able to get the base game to run, but wasn't able to download either of the DLC.

    Microsoft Store does not give me the option to download, saying that both items do "not work on this device".

    Reset the app. Reinstalled the app. Updated Windows. Updated Windows Store. Uninstalled the App and reinstalled it through the XBOX App. Rebooted my computer several times. Switched to an ethernet connection. Rebooted in Safe Mode. Created a new Admin account. All to no avail.

    I am running a legitimate version of Windows (OS Build 19042.868) and purchased the product directly from Microsoft Store. I am running on a 64 bit system that is more than capable of running The Outer Worlds and its DLC.

    There have been no error codes, no reasons given, just "does not work on this device".

    I am completely unable to ask for a refund as it is a digital product, despite the fact that not only can I not install it, it is Microsoft Store directly prohibiting me from installing it.

    When attempting to find store support, I was brought to a website that gave me a phone number. Upon calling the phone number, I was informed to go back to the website. At no point was I ever offered an opportunity to speak to anyone in store support. This is the most embarrassing excuse for a tech support system I've ever seen. Literally every fix I've seen online for this issue was given by a random person not affiliated with Microsoft.

    If there is any fix that lets me circumvent using Microsoft Store altogether, I would gladly take it.

    WHAT???? THE DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT ON THE MARKETPLACE IS THE SAME CONTENT AS THE IN-GAME STORE,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS SUPPOSIDELY THAT IF YOU BUY THE SEASON PASS YOU DO NOT GET CHARGED IF YOU BUY THE DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT FROM THE IN-GAME STORE....BUT AGAIN
    IT DOES NOT SHOW THAT THE ITEM WAS EVEN DOWNLOADED FROM THE MARKETPLACE WHEN DOWNLOADED FROM THE IN-GAME STORE....WHICH MAKES ME THINK WHATS THE POINT ON GETTING THE SEASON PASS IF IT ACTUALLY DOES NOT SHOW UP AS BEING DOWNLOADED FROM THE MARKETPLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BECAUSE THE PERSON WILL JUST HAVE TO DOWNLOADED CONTENT FROM THE MARKETPLCE ANYWAYS TO HAVE IT SHOW UP IN THE MARKETPLACE AS BEING DOWNLOADED....then why does the dashboard say you will be billed twice for the same transaction if the items from the in-game
    store and the dashboard items were different??? the items from the in-game store and the dashboard are indeed the same or you would not be billed for the same transaction twice if you bought the items from the dashboard

    The key word there is "owned" if you try to store you stuff in an item that says "owned" it means someone else owns that storage device. If you store your stuff in an item and it does not say "owned" you will be fine.

    Hi there, find the avatar item on your storage device and delete it, navigate to the 'Avatar Awards' section of the avatar store and re-download the item. I've read numerous threads of this working, but the following link was the easiest to follow :

    "Downloadale Content" not in Download History

    Can you check commerce.microsoft.com to see if the item you have is on the purchase list there? If it is then you should contact phone support for more assistance with the issue.

    If it is not then the item was more than likely purchased and downloaded from a different account. Remember, just because something is on the storage device does not mean a specific gamertag downloaded it.
