Unable to Download Game Update on Xbox Series X – Error Code 0x8B050033

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering an issue with updating one of my games on the Xbox Series X. Every time I try to download the latest update, I get an error message with the code 0x8B050033. I've made sure my internet connection is stable and tried resetting my console, but the problem persists.

I've checked for any updates that my Xbox might need and everything seems up to date. Has anyone faced a similar issue? Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues downloading game updates to one of your games in Xbox series X. I understand that you received error code 0x8B050033.

For us to isolate your case, can you share the game that you're referring to? Do you have a different internet connection that you can use to test? If none, you may use your mobile phone's data as a mobile hotspot then connect your console.

I’m having this issue on both my Xbox series x one is brand new from today that was working prior to update, also its a wide spread issue as multiple post are on the POE forums

The error I get is 0x8b050033

I performed the above and still doesn’t work

I understand that you want to install update for your game however it isn't working.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Wait a little while and then try updating your console again because sometimes, this error occurs when Xbox servers are undergoing maintenance.

And then restart your console. Perform a hard restart of your Xbox Series X by holding the power button for about 10 seconds until it turns off completely, then turn it back on.

After this one, please restart your modem/router as well in order for your network to fully refresh.

Next is to clear persistent storage: Go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings and select Clear persistent storage. Restart your console after clearing the storage.

Please test it out if the game update installs this time.

I have an Xbox Series X and an Xbox One S. I have restarted both consoles multiple times. I cannot even download the game on my One S. On the Series X, I was able to download "something" by clicking on the tile in my games inventory, but the result is only 74GB instead of the 96GB shown in the MS store.

How do I get help with this? I am unable to play the game on the Series X (I get an error that I am too early, even though I purchased the Ultimate Edition), and I am unable to download anything on the Xbox One S.

Can anyone help?
