    Unable to downgrade insider ring


    When I first got my Series X last year, I was reluctant to join my new console to insider preview program for... well... obvious reasons.

    Nearly a year later, I thought it was good time to enroll and went straight to the beta ring, as I wanted to test the 4K dashboard.

    But now I want to downgrade to the omega ring and had to wait until it caught up with the other rings, so I didn't have to do a factory reset. It was announced over the last couple of days that this is now the case (beta, delta and omega now have the same build) but the insider app is still showing the old build.

    Am I missing something?

    Yes, that would be three suggestions: try to test it on Windows 10 and test it with a (downgraded non-insider build of) Windows 11 and without Xbox Insider Windows 11. However, if you might be unable to perform one of them just let us know.

    If you were an insider in the alpha ring updates are nearly daily, you should withdraw from the insider program or reduce your ring for fewer updates

    There are different "rings" in the Insider program. The ability to play free-to-play games has been rolled out to the different rings at different times. So not everyone in the Insider program has had access to it yet. You'd need to see what rings it's available in currently and see if you're in one of those rings. If you're not, then you don't have access to that yet.

    If you're in a ring that does have access to that and it's not working, then you would need to report that through the Insider Hub.
