  1. Unable to connect through Ethernet cable to Sky Q router. WiFi works fine.

    Hi

As the title states I have the latest Sky Q router and when trying to connect to either my Xbox One or my Xbox One X through a wired connection, the console fails to connect to the internet.

This worked fine on my old Sky Router, I never had to mess with any settings it was just plug in and go.

Is anyone aware of why this could be?

I have noticed that when connecting through WiFI it says I am connected through IPV4 & IPV6 but when I try (and fail) to connect through an ethernet cable it says it is an IPV5 connection. Does a router have to connect through a particular IPV channel? How
    can this be changed?

    Thanks

    :)

How to Connect Internet Cable directly to Xbox 360

    Hi everybody.

So recently I've been experiencing a lot of lag on CoD, i.e, whenever I join a game I get 2-bar and 3-bar connections. So I decided to search for some solutions. I read somewhere that I can fix this problem by directly connecting my Xbox to the router using an Ethernet cable. Now the problem arises as I do not possess an Ethernet cable.
Currently, I have a cable through which Internet is supplied (It's a Fibrenet connection, which uses Optical Fibres for transmitting the Internet) and this cable is connected to a router which provides me WiFi.
I was wondering if I can connect my Internet Cable directly to the Xbox 360 without Ethernet cables.
(The cable looks exactly like an Ethernet cable so it can fit into the Ethernet jack of the Xbox, so that problem is covered.)

EDIT : I connected the Internet Cable to the Xbox but when I tested connection, It does not connect to Internet. Help

How to Connect Internet Cable directly to Xbox 360

Need a bit more info here like do you have a modem or is your router a modem/router combo?

The router which provides your wifi needs to have ethernet ports to connect to your 360 or you need to bypass your router and connect direct to 360 as you said you tried.

If you have a modem you need to unplug it and plug it back in and make sure the 360 is set to a wired connection and not wireless still.

if the ethernet cable you have going into your router doesnt come from a modem but directly from a drop like how Verizon Fios is set up sometimes then you should just need to make sure 360 is set up for a wired connection and not wireless.

Your best bet is to buy an extra ethernet cable which it appears you dont have yet and go direct from router to 360 and not lose your wifi in the process by skipping the router. The cable is going to be under $10

  4. Unable to connect through Ethernet cable to Sky Q router. WiFi works fine.

Well that is strange since IPV5 was never really used and only IPV4 and IPV6 are available.

I do not own that router, but on one I had in the past I had a similar issue: I was able to connect via WIFI and not cable by default. The problem was that WIFI was set by default as an open NAT while cable
was set on the router as strict, which prevented me to connect until I manually changed the router config to open ports for the xbox.

I would suggest to check the router configuration and factory standards. and update if needed.

Common cases for which you may need a manual change can be found here:

How to change the WiFi password on my xbox 1?... It’s not accepting my old one and have a new router with new password how do I change it please?

I don't personally have an Sky Q Box.

If that box is capable to increase/repeat (or acts like a WiFi repeater) and have an Ethernet connector.

Yes, you should be able to connect it to the Xbox via cable (ethernet cable)

    Can't connect to Xbox live?

Is your xbox connected through and ethernet cable or is it connected through wifi because if its wifi then you might need to check the security settings to of your wifi router and that is what might not be allowing it to connect to the internet and if so
try using an ethernet cable for a more stable and sure connection.

    Xbox one slow connection speed

We've recently had sky Q installed and two miniboxes. The problem is now that the speed of the internet is slow for where my xbox one is in the house. The main sky q box already has an ethernet cable connection to one of the minibox number 1 to improve the
connection speed elsewhere in the house.

My query is how do I improve the speed of my xbox internet connection - can i run an ethernet cable to a sky q minibox (number 2)? I can't run the cable to the main sky q box as it already has an ethernet cable going to minibox 1.

Or could I use a splitter on the back of the main sky q box - one to continue to go to minibox 1 and another cable direct to the xbox?

    Many thanks
You need to a switch not a spliter

    Wired Connection Not connecting

Sadly that's not the problem, my ISP isn't Dial to connect =\ strange since other wifi devices in my house are able to connect through ethernet cables and how much the xbox is able to connect varies. Sometimes it connects to the router but not the internet,
and more recently not connecting to the router at all due to being unable to be given an IP.
