Unable to change currency or country to Add money to child account

Sorry, I made a mistake. It's possible, but if you can't change the region, I recommend doing what I told you in the previous message. I'll now give you the steps and limitations you may have.

Changing the Xbox Account Region:

- Go to: account.microsoft.com/profile

- Sign in with your account.

- Look for the option Edit country or region and change it to United Kingdom.

Limitations:

- You can only change the region once every 3 months.

- Some content, subscriptions, or payment methods may not be available or may function differently after the change.

- Microsoft Store balance from one region does not transfer to another region.

- Changing the region can affect games, DLCs, and subscriptions (like Xbox Game Pass) that are tied to a specific region.

You should be able to change the region on your child's account. Try:

1. Sign into family.microsoft.com
   
2. Click three dots for the child's account you need to modify
   
3. Click Manage Consent
   
4. Click Edit this child's personal info
   
5. Edit the country
   
6. Accept the warning about providing consent (steps 7 will do this), the child will appear to disappear from the family.
   
7. Sign in as the child on account.microsoft.com. The child will receive prompt for consent, select "I am the parent" option, sign in with parent account, and then accept consent prompt. Sign into family.microsoft.com (using a parent account), and you'll see the child back in the family.
   
8. Sign back in to account.microsoft.com with the child account to confirm country is now switched
   

Then you should be able to add the funds under the correct currency.

The money in your Microsoft account. The funds in your Microsoft account will
not move with you. Be sure to spend the money in your account before you change your account location. We can’t transfer money between regions.

Do not add the currency and then change regions, he will lose all the money:
support.xbox.com/.../change-region

As Auswulf has said, you should be able to add the currency and still access the Australian marketplace when connected to the internet over there or spend the money before he leaves.
