    unable to cancel a game download stuck at %0


    Hi Im unable to cancel a game download (A Plague Tale: Innocence) stuck at %0, I click the 'x' icon, select cancel and it just flashes briefly but remains stuck at downloading %0. I'm on windows 11 and just updated the game pass app as of today 22/07/23. I also bought the game outright through game pass about a year ago



    I've tried:



    All windows updates are up to date

    game pass app is up to date

    un/reinstalling game pass

    un/reinstalling microsoft store

    terminate/repair/reset game pass app and restart immediately after

    terminate/repair/reset microsoft store and restart immediately after

    Turn on xbox app services (from app settings) to run on startup

    run wsreset to reset microsoft store

    reinstall gaming services via powershell

    followed the lengthy process from HarveyBrett's post half way down this thread

    Bu t it is still stuck. Some background is I got a new PC and attempted to transfer the old save folder from the old PC to the new pc C:\Xbox Games folder and tried to download thinking it would just find the existing install folder and simply verify it (it worked on steam with cyberpunk) but it did not work obviously and now the installation is stuck at %0 and I can't get rid of it. At this stage I just want to cancel the download and start again fresh if you can help that that would be most appreciated. Other games download fine I installed A Plague Tale: Requiem the other week without issue.

    I understand that you wanted to cancel the download due to the error being stuck at 0% and I can see that you have exhausted all the troubleshooting steps yet the issue still persists.

    It appears that the Xbox app download data has been corrupted and based on my experience, the only best option now is to have you perform a reformat on your C: Drive where your Windows was installed then install the Xbox app.

    Nothing to worry I can highly recommend this workaround as I have encountered and resolved a similar issue before a lot of times.

    Before you proceed with the reformat, please make sure to back up your files.

    I totally understand where you are coming from. You can also try to turn off IPv6. It can be another reason you are struggling with the mentioned issue, especially if the problem originates while downloading or installing the app from Xbox. So, you can disable the IPv6 to fix the issue:

    Open the start menu, type, and open View Network Connections.

    Right-click on the connected Network and choose Properties.

    Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) option.

    Click on OK.

    Now, restart your system and check if the Xbox app game installation gets stuck on preparing 0% problem is fixed or not.

    As for last resort, you can still reconsider the reformat option or contact Microsoft Xbox Support for further assistance:

    Hi Daryl,

    Thanks for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately the proposed solution is suboptimal. The game is on sale on steam right now so I thin that seems better than reformatting my entire hard disk.

    The outer worlds' downloading is stuck at 24%

    Sorry to hear it. As this is the beta app there are still issues to be fixed. If you are unable to download the game from the app then cancel it and open the Store App from the start menu and find the game there to install
    When I canceled and used store app to download the game, I started and stuck at 24% again
