    Unable to access money in family plan that does NOT need any approval to purchase apps


    it's impossible to reach Microsoft support!!! I have an xbox account and on the family plan. My mom has $45.00 in my account to purchase apps but my mom and I can not apply this to a came I want to purchase. I keep getting need approval when the setting
    state NO approval needed.

    GiltShark26976, I see that one of the tags you associated with your post was "Family Plan" - Are you by chance part of somebody's Family Gold plan? If so, that is likely the problem. For whatever reason, the Family Gold plan only recognizes the primary account
    holder as having adult status for their account; every other account in the plan is treated like a child account, regardless of the user's age. However, the Family Gold plan will be desolved tomorrow, 27 August, 2013, and all accounts within a familyt plan
    will be converted to individual accounts with gold that expires when the family plan was supposed to expire, plus you'll get an additional months of gold. If you are still having this issue once the conversion occurs, follow the instructions found in the following
    link to promote your account to adult status. IMPORTANT: Do Not do this before the conversion from Famly Gold to regular Gold or you will be removed from the Family Gold plan! Here's the link:

    Basically, what this tells you to do is:

    ¤ Login to your profile on your console

    ¤ Go to the Settings tab on the dashboard

    ¤ Select the Account tile

    ¤ Choose the Promote Child Account option

    For the gold family plan, only the primary account may add any sort of payment option. Also if the primary account has restriction on the secondary accounts that could be the problem. What you could do is check the primary account and see if there are any
    restrictions on the secondary account. You could also add points to the primary and purchase what ever you are purchasing and then transfer the license to the account you want it to be on.

    Yep only the AH has full access.

    So say you wanted to purchase Elite and use a CC - You would have to leave the family plan, add the CC purchase the item then rejoin the family plan.

    Family plan is not a Friend plan - maybe someday they will add that to the plan types.

    It was to appeal to family who did not want to purchase full memberships for 4 kids. Saving them a ton of cash, and keeping the kids happy.
