Unable to access files in Game Pass PC

I hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums. You are trying to access your game files? The Xbox insider app allows you to change where you install games, which means that I can now choose the location within Windows and name the folder I want to install my games. It allows for easier access to your game files than the old app, which installed the games within the main OS and was difficult to access and control. Please take a look at the screenshot I inserted in this thread, and please take a look at the red underline. I have installed my games on the D:/foldername(XGP), now I can go into that folder and access my files.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. The file that the game downloads to are hidden files and they're locked. It will be on your default drive, but you are unable to access these folders. Most likely, the reason is that any game that you get
from game pass you do not technically own until bought. Therefore, they lock it so it is not able to be manipulated. This is covered under the

Microsoft terms of use.

The game pass for PC FAQ has a lot of good information on the game pass.

There are converters which Ill likely have to try. Im a bit irritared that I am unable to access those files and I feel that it almost acts as a strategy to maintain PC players on game pass... I understand there might be technical limitations, but Im also thinking that, "how is it not possible at all to provide those files in a way that are accessible". I just dont buy that they are not capable of doing that. Anyway, thank you for responding. You are the first person that provided an actual answer that makes sense.

Cyclone, what I mean, is that nowadays, the majority of the Game Pass games save files are in the cloud. You will be able to access them once you launch the game for the first time no matter which PC you're using, as long as you launch them with your account connected. Also, the files of the Game Pass games are not accessible nor editable. :/

Thanks for coming to the forums. If you are unable to get the mods from the Microsoft store, you wont be able load mods. As the files for the game pass games are locked and not able to be accessed.
