Unable to accept family invite

I was playing forza horizon 3 when there were some aspects of the game locked off by parental control. I have never used microsoft family so there are no parents. I then tried adding myself to microsoft family as an adult in hopes for a fix, now I'm unable
to accept the invitation. I accept and show up as an adult but the invitation is still not replied to, and i can still not access xbox settings as it says that a child can not enter the settings without special permission

It could be that they are unable to accept friend invites through their family/content settings...

 

Pocket edition problem

Really hoping someone can help, as a family we are trying to work together on one realm. I've managed to invite one player successfully but when I invite my son he gets the invite, accepts then gets a message saying unable to join, outdated client. Does
anyone know what this means? Or how we can fix it?

I am sorry you are having this issue, if your Microsoft account is not an adult account but a children's account this might be the issue, whether or not you are using microsoft family settings or not. If the birthday age is less than 18 years old you have
a children's account, make sure this isn't the case, if it is you will have to wait until the account is 18 years from the date of birth on it for it to transfer to an adult account.
