    We need a 3840x1600 21:9 resolution option now please.

    I have been with Xbox since day one. I have always played at a computer desk type set up. It was Xbox that always push tech forward in mainstream console gaming. I went from my 420p display to a 720p to a 1080i on the OG console. I bought my first flat screen display with 1080p for my 360, and of course 4k gaming day one on the Xbox One. I love that Xbox has motivated games to merge gaming with the latest tech. Lastly, is that I bought a PC right when Series X launched, and 2 years in I bought one of the best Ultrawide monitors on the market. For almost 3 years I've played almost exclusively on PC (except if I'm travelling) because Xbox does not offer something as simple as a resolution option. I will admit that when I bought this monitor it was still considered a luxury level item. Now its been 3 years and one of my friends finally wanted a 4k monitor, and I looked for him over the past holiday (sales time) and to my surprise square 4k monitors are a rarity, and now Ultrawide is mainstream. This is the first time I can honestly say Xbox is late to the table and have completely overlooked this market shift. PS5 launched pitching an 8K future (overly optimistic in my opinion. I've been an insider for over 9 years and have helped on support forums. Please Xbox let me use this beautiful and come back home! 3840x1600 21:9 is just 4k in a alternate format.

    I've come up with a slighty ridiculous temporary, but cheaper solution - see edit above.

    Means I'm ok to wait a few months for MS to catch up (and for monitors to get better in the meantime). Only worth it if you're also interested in VR though - first headset I've bought as it seems like the Quest 2 is going to be the one to drive mass adoption
    and hopefully with that attract more devs to VR.

    Adding support for 21:9 would really be an improvement for console users with ultrawide screen monitors.

    Seems crazy for Microsoft to have ultrawide available for the PC version games, but not for their own console.

    I don't play competitive gaming, but I could understand not allowing it in such circumstances, but if Microsoft wants an immediate leg up on Sony consoles give us support for ultrawide screen gaming.

    Exactly. A lot of desktop gamers use ultrawide monitors. Alienware recently announced their brand new QD-OLED monitor - the first of its kind - which is a 34 inch curved ultrawide. This tells you the direction PC gaming is going and there's no reason why console should be any different. If these next gen consoles have the capability to do it then it should be utilised. If it involves the developers reprogramming their games then fair enough, but I don't see it being a tough job to do.
