Ubisoft abandons Watch Dogs trademark

abandonment of a trademark is otherwise completely irreversible.

This could mean one of two things: Either Ubisoft is rebranding Watch Dogs—which seems unlikely, given they’ve spent almost two full years marketing the game with that name (and were it to come out this spring, as planned, a name change could seriously
damage sales)—or the company scrapped the project (possibly due to middling internal reviews and the company’s desire to avoid producing something that in any way affected their reputation as a major developer and publisher).

Watch Dogs was originally set to launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U November 19, 2013 as part of the next-gen console launches. In October, the
company announced that Watch Dogs had been delayed to a nebulous spring 2014 launch window, citing a need “to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”

Watchdogs is about hacking? I didn't even know. All I knew was people were raving about it. You learn something new everyday.

Wow..that is a blow to a lot of gamers that were awaiting it's release...so basically this will be floating around like Sleeping Dogs was until someone picks it up and finishes it?...I love Ubisoft but this might have hurt their reputation more than helped
it.

No me gusta. This is one of my most anticipated games.

 

Just further confirms that Ubisoft has no idea what the hell they are doing right now.

Delays Watch Dogs at the last second. Delays a finished Rayman Legends in favor of going multiplatform. Has Rainbow Six in development hell. The Division is reportedly in development hell. Abandoning the Watch Dogs trademark. Releases a **** Ghost Recon
game. Wont inform Wii U users if they will even see Watch Dogs or not.

It's a nightmare.

 

It's not good news but I wonder what took them so long to realize that they should do that. Surely if the game wasn't that good they would have known a while ago.

I think its the Dogs. Sleeping Dogs was weird too.
