Two Xboxes, different speeds on same network.

I've got two Xbox ones on the same wireless network.

The OLDER of the two is much faster than the newer of the two and I'm at a loss as to why. I had read another post on here with someone who had the same issue, but all the responses included the newer Xbox being more optimized which is obviously not the case here.

I assume it's some form of router issue but am not completely sure.

Another issue is that my apartment complex is the one who pays for the Internet, therefore I cannot change any settings on the router.

Any suggestions as to how to possibly fix this issue would be GREATLY appreciated.

When you want to play multi-player is always better to use a wired connection

The speed using a wireless connection never is going to be accurate / the same
This depends on a lot of factors... Like where is the router, where are the consoles, how far are the consoles from the router, electronic devices between the router and the console (TVs, microwave, etc), devices connected to the network, what are those devices doing in the network

This is just to give you an example. We can try some things, but they're limited and it's not guaranteed that they're going to work. But in some cases the speed can be improved:

A. Try using a different DNS address
go to Settings > Network > Advanced Settings

Once you’re inside the Advanced Settings menu, go to DNS settings and select Manual from the list of available options.
When you get to the next screen, enter 8.8.8.8 in the box associated with the Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 in the Secondary DNS box.

Once the default DNS addresses have been changed, restart your console and see if the issue has been resolved at the next console startup.

(If that doesn't work use 1.1.1.1 as primary and 1.0.0.1 as secondary)

B. Clean your MAC address:

Select Setting > Network > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address
Select Clear, restart your console and give it a new try

C. (You need to access to the router or call the ISP) Change the channel used for the wifi network until you can see an improvement

Thank you for your swift reply! I'll try your suggestions tonight, though I am a little apprehensive that they'll be temporary.

I wish the speed was only sometimes different but the newer Xbox is consistently slower than the older, along with enough lag during online multiplayer games to be unplayable.

I have the same issue. Are your network speeds on your xbox different from what you test on a laptop?

Are you both on the same network, or different networks? You can run a speed test (http://speedtest.net) from a computer on the same network as your console to see what your base ISP speed is. Also, sharing
the network with other computers or devices (phones, etc) can slow downloads as well.
