Two Microsoft accounts tied to one email-address

One email can't have 2 different accounts, if you are seeing an alternative account means that this email it's not the same email that made the purchase of the game, order history it's linked to the email address

You should check the order history of your other available email addresses to find the account that made the purchase

Thanks for the reply. That's not fully what I'm looking for though. I can not change the email address associated as the email address I want to use is tied to a different Microsoft Account and still would be stuck with two Microsoft accounts.

Content is tied to the account, not the aliases, so as long as you keep using that account the content will be available.

One thing though about the emails: if address A is a Microsoft address (i.e. @hotmail, @live, @outlook, ...) you will not be able to link it to another Microsoft account since it is a Microsoft account
by itself and it is currently not possible to merge two accounts..

The email address associated with an Xbox account is tied to all Microsoft products - Office, OneDrive, Xbox, JSkype, etc. It's one account to work across all the Microsoft services. More information can be found here.

If you want to use his email address as the primary for an Microsoft account, then a second account will need to be created.

Something to keep in mind, nothing (Gamerscore, purchases, etc.) can be transferred between accounts. If you change the email address associated with the current account, everything will be tied to that email address. More information can be found here.

how did you change the email as the email address IS the microsoft account and everything purchased is tied to that microsoft account, you can only change a microsoft account email via alias creation.
