Two brand new Series X; 1 fails with wired. One installed flawlessly, downloading all games using wired 1G connection. 2nd unit would start downloading ok, then speed would drop away to nothing and checking network status would show it had disconnected. Switched to using same port and cable as the first one, but it still fails. Updates did apply successfully, but it just works for awhile after reboot, then eventually disconnects. It has to be the box itself or settings; have already tried different port selection. Any other ideas on what I can do to get the 1G connection working? Wireless seems to work ok, but would really like to have the wired working.

    :)

Thanks Mark, this detailed info is really helpful! I’d like to apologise for my delayed response, I’ve been offline as I haven’t been well recently.

It unfortunately sounds like there’s a hardware fault with the network card in the console, and the advanced troubleshooting you’ve performed indicates this even more. It’s certainly strange that not the system disconnects from your network on a wired connection. Did you try any of the recommended solutions in the support articles I included in my previous reply by any chance? You may need to request a repair or replacement (free of charge if your console is within warranty) if the issue still persists:
    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/getting-your-product-serviced

So this doesn’t seem to be software related (especially as both consoles are on the same OS version and only one console is affected), but I’d still recommend creating a bug report for the unexpected behaviour nonetheless - the diagnostic data will be forwarded to the Xbox engineers so they can take a closer look into it.

    Here’s a YouTube tutorial:

You could also reset the Series X in question, but I don’t believe this would make a difference. If you do decide to try this (perhaps the keep games and apps option first), just keep in mind that this would reset any Home Xbox associations, reset all settings to default, and delete all account/profiles so be sure you remember your email address and password for your account(s).

If you’d prefer to contact support directly for assistance in real-time, you can start a live chat or request a call back here:

You may want to contact your ISP and/or router manufacturer as well to see if they have any advice regarding the error. This is the direct link to this thread if you want to share the conversation with them for reference:

Sorry once again for the delay. Please share any updates on this when you can and I’ll be here if you need me.

    Best,

Two brand new Series X. One failing on hard wired connection.

    Hey Ryan,

So the unit having trouble is OS version 10.0.25398.2538 (xb_flt_2310zn.231018-2200). The one working without issue is the same.

They plug into a NetGear GS324 Gigabit Switch. Switch plugs into Google puck router; AC1200, version 14150.376.32 (latest) which in turn plugs into the 1Gbps fiber “modem”, model GFLT132.

If I move swap places, switching locations between working unit and faulty unit (everything else staying the same), the problem follows the faulty unit. The faulty unit will run for awhile , downloading at 400Mbps and then trail off and lose its connection. If I restart the box, it will reestablish its connection, and I can resume the downloads until it loses connection again a bit later.

I have changed faulty unit from dhcp to reserved with no difference. I have changed alternate port selection with no difference. I also have another X with no issues, and two S’s that the new X’s are replacing that never had any issues. Seems to be isolated to this one new X. In case it helps, it is Xbox network device ID F4000ED23EB94266.

    Thanks for your help!

Hi Mark, I’m Ryan. What OS version are both Series X consoles currently on? You can find this info in Settings > System > Console info. Hello MarkMVP I am an independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today. My name is Khaji

It's frustrating to hear that you're experiencing wired connection issues on one of your Xbox Series X consoles.

Make sure the Ethernet cable you are using is in good condition and not damaged. Try using a different Ethernet cable to rule out problems with the cable itself.

Check the router/switch port Make sure the port you are connecting the Xbox Series X console to is healthy and working properly. You can try connecting another device to the same port to see if you experience similar problems.

Check the network settings on the Xbox Series X console. Make sure it is set to use a wired connection and that there are no incorrect or conflicting settings. You can try to reset the network settings in the console and configure it again.

If possible, try connecting the Xbox Series This can help you determine if the problem is related to your local network configuration.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again.

Xbox Series X/S games "not playable on this device" on brand new Xbox One X

I just bought a brand new Xbox One X, but when I go to the store, Flight Simulator and other Xbox Series X/S games say they are "not playable on this device" and I can't get Flight Simulator to install on my brand new Xbox One X because it says it's "not compatible". Very frustrating.
So you bought an Xbox One X and expected to be able to play an Xbox Series X game on it?

Why would a game made for an Xbox Series X work on an Xbox One X?

If you want to play Xbox Series X/S games I would take your brand new Xbox One X back to the store you bought it and see if they will take it back and you could try and buy an Xbox Series S (Series X consoles are very hard to find, but a Series S can be found fairly easilly)
