TV Video degradation after using an app/or playing game

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the picture quality after playing a game or using an app? When I first start up the XB1, I have no issues, but when I switch back to live TV it happens. I've removed the XB1 from the setup to see if is a STB issue,
but the picture quality is fine without the XB1 in the setup. Restarting the XB1 seems to correct the issue, but what a pain to have to do this when switching between apps.

It's like the picture is losing a frame while playing making the images appear to be "skipping".

My setup is from STB to XB1 via HDMI, HDMI to Yamaha receiver, HDMI to TV. This issue has only started recently and I've had the XB1 in this setup for over a year now without issues except during a couple of MS updates to the system that were noticed by
others as well and corrected by MS.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Bugs or issues?

Hi,

First to say, i'm a 26 year old technician (called engineer in the US) I'm from Belgium. Bought my Xbox 1 from Amazon France.While playing Killer Instinct after an online match going back to the lobby, the game just stopped sending me back to the dashboard/homescreen
of the X1. I wanted to resume the game but the game started up (microsoft screen etc etc). Is this common? I bought the Ultimate Edition from Killer Instinct.

After an hour or so I opened the app Machinima. I started watching a video (Xbox launch something with zombie actors (Dead Rising 3) on the Manhatten? bridge and after that the new MacLarren (Forza 5)...). Thet video just paused, could be my internet connection
(using WiFi then). I resumed the video manually. After a minute it did it again and the app just freezed unable to show the video or even the menu from the app. Then the app rebooted (on its own). I then switched to TV (using Kinect) . The screen remained
black (my digital reciever is connected and it is on and it was working before).

I then powered off the console by using the phrase XBOX TURN OFF. It turned off. After a minute i said XBOX ON. My TV is not showing image, X1 is on.

After reading an other post on this forum. I pulled out the power brick, pulled out Kinect. Started typing this post and just now powered back on (Kinect not connected, TV reciever on). Got my image back (console) and tv seems to be working to.

I hope Microsoft will take this post serious. Isn't there a bug report page?

HDMI HAS POOR PICTURE QUALITY

With Overlay mode I am also seeing a significant degradation of Tivo's television picture quality using the supplied Xbox One HDMI cable (putting the Xbox One between Tivo and TV). I am reusing my pre-existing cable in the XBONE's HDMI Out.

Is this hardware and unavoidable degradation due to the daisy-chaining OR is this a fixable software issue? As-is I won't be using this and must go back to separate inputs. :-(

FYI turning off the auto HDMI setting helped my picture a ton.

Because I'm moving I unhooked the XB1 and connected the cable box directly to the TV. I was quite stunned at the video quality improvement of Live TV when the XB1 was removed. I don't know if this a new degradation or if it's always been there as I've used
the XB1 and Live TV app pretty much from day one of the XB1 release.

Essentially, the HD DPI looks less and the picture looks slightly fuzzy when compared to direct to TV from the cable box.

My guess is MS is not working on this since no one has responded in over a month.

This is not specific to DirecTV as I've always been a Comcast customer. Will be DirecTV after the move though.

I have the same problem. Picture quality is horrible through the Xbox one compared to plugged in directly. I'm using a DirectTV HR44

I had a Google TV for several years. I foresaw many of the issues the XB1 is going through due to my time that device. It did degrade picture quality to a small degree, the XB1 seems to be worse and it's actually changing on me. I've had to factory reset
it twice now, each time my TV picture quality looked different. The first time it was less sharp and very laggy. The second time there was serious lag and an orange tinge to Black's. Now after the third reset it's a little snappier but now I'm getting color
banding in my TiVos menus like really bad gradients.

If it's any consolation, Google TV's pass through picture quality improved overtime with updates and the XB1 has plenty of horsepower to do it right. Problem is Microsoft is striping system resources from non-gaming applications to aid in resolutiongate.
The next problem is every system update seems to break about as much as it improves. It will get better, hopefully without any serious hardware revisions.
