TV Tuner Stereo output only?

Hi,

Just wondering if it's possible to get the usb tv tuner to output 5.1 sound from hd channels?

Can't figure out if there are any settings I'm missing...

Digital TV Tuner Coming To XBox One

I cant get this tuner to output surround sound.

Every game and app from the xbox outputs in 5.1 but when I watch live tv from the tuner or from a freeview box i have running through the xbox it only outputs in stereo. the amp even says dts 3/2.1 but sound onky comes from the front 3 speakers. all 3 output the same sound so it isnt surround at all.

I even changed my setup to optical from xbox straight to amp instead if optical from tv out to amp but still live tv is in stereo.

All settings are set to bitstream and surround sound on the xbox.

 

Digital TV for Xbox One won't pass surround sound

I recently purchased a digital TV tuner from my local Microsoft store. No issues with integration and working, and the picture looks great.

I am not able to get the system to output sound in surround sound however for broadcast TV, only in Stereo. I've checked the settings per the help page on enabling surround sound (which I think is a silly setting BTW to have defaulted to stereo, but I digress).
I've also contacted Hauppauge and they can replicate the issue, but they say it's an XBOX One issue and to check here.

Can someone tell me what's up?

True. I have checked and double checked every setting. About to watch the Cowboy game on Fox and it is always in surround sound. I have changed settings from surround sound to stereo and back again. Don't know what else to do. We need help on this one Microsoft!

 

I'm having the same issue ever since the latest update. I've tried everything. Games work fine, it's just the OTA TV with the XBOX ONE TV tuner with the problem.

 

I'm having the same issue. Only seeing a 2 channel, stereo output. I've tried every surround sound option (5.1, 7.1, bit-stream, surround sound on/off, etc...) and I've changed around the HDMI settings with no luck. The output is only stereo for OTA live
TV. When watching movies or other content surround sound works fine.

 

I just purchased the USB tuner and am having the same issue. No surround sound (5.1) with OTA live TV but games and movies work fine. Anybody have a fix or is this a known bug in the latest firmware for xbox one?

 

I'm having the same issue. I had the HomeWorx connected to my Xbox and I had 5.1 audio from most HD channels, probably because it was via HDMI. Now, there is no 5.1 audio via USB. My opinion, the TV app needs to be updated to support 5.1 audio via USB.

 

Will this issue ever be resolved Microsoft? To get surround sound (5.1) for live TV I may have to give up the guide and XBOX ONE and get live TV through my TV where I get 5.1 surround. This is going backward in my opinion as XBOX ONE guide is excellent.

 

I also have the same issue. Regardless of setting the TV audio to Stereo or Surround Sound, I only get 2.1 audio. I only got the xbox one and tuner a few days ago; did 5.1 surround sound work ever w/ the Hauppauge tuner earlier on before a recent system
update? Or has it never worked?

 

Same issue here. 5.1 worked fine with the USB tuner prior to the NXOE update. I've had to update two xboxes and both times immediately after the update 5.1 OTA functionality was lost. Surround is enabled in my TV settings but it has no effect. Surround
still works fine for games, movies etc.

 

I tried really everything but don´t get 5.1 sound :-(

I there a trick?
