TV not recognising xbox

My husband has an old Panasonic plasma tv that we were giving to my son (purely for the bigger screen). We have plugged the HDMI cord into the HDMI port in the TV but the TV is not recognising the Xbox.

We have tried multiple HDMI cords but still nothing.

The Xbox is not faulty as it works on my sons TCL TV

This is seperate issue, xbox back up and running on different tv, however the tv tv that my xbox was plugged into at time of outage now will not recognise the xbox. Says no signal on that source

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I have just tried the cable into the tv on a separate device. The tv recognises the cable in all HDMI ports (2-4). When i plug the cable back into the Xbox the tv shows nothing so therefore it apoears to be something within the Xbox that wont recognise the
cable.

Hope i’m making sense!

Hi Nikki,

When you say that the Panasonic TV doesn’t recognise your Xbox via HDMI, do you mean that it says ‘no signal’ or is it just a blank screen? Is there a display when other devices are connected to the same HDMI port on the TV?

Either way, try the recommended troubleshooting steps in this support article - specifically refer to ‘your screen is blank after you turn on the console’:

We’re not very good at this it seems. How do we adjust the settings on the screen when nothing appears?

Hi Nikki. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

This can happens if the Xbox is trying to display a resolution higher than what the TV can handle. Try putting the Xbox into low-resolution mode to see if that helps:

If there's a disc in the console, eject it before following these steps. Then on the console, press and hold the Power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds to turn off the console.

( If you have an Xbox Series S or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, press and hold the Xbox button and the Pair button instead, as your console doesn't have an Eject button.)

Press and hold the Power button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You'll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep.

Don’t let go until you hear the second beep or see the console start-up in low resolution mode (the Xbox start-up screen will appear slightly pixelated).

If you can now see an image on your screen, go to Settings > General > TV & display options, and then select the resolution that you want from the options under Display.
