    TV no longer using external speakers


    I have a Sony Bravia XBR-46HX909 TV with a Sony HT-CT550W AV receiver. My Xbox One is running the latest firmware. I have gone through the process of reconfiguring the Xbox One for my TV and AV receiver, but the issue persists. I haven't had this issue
    until recently, so maybe it is the result of the latest Xbox One system update. The issue is that when I turn on my Xbox One and it turns on my TV and AV receiver, the TV no longer automatically switches to the external speakers controlled by the AV system.
    Sometimes it will say that the external speakers are unavailable. Usually I can manually go into my TV menu afterwards and set the external speakers as the audio output, but this used to be automatic. I haven't changed anything with my TV or AV receiver,
    so I'm not sure why this is happening. It's pretty annoying having to manually go into my TV menu and change the audio output every time I turn on my Xbox. What can I do?

    This sounds incredibly odd. Are you using any kind of external speakers, or your TV's speakers? If external, how do you have the speakers connected to the receiver or TV?

    HDMI Cables

    Only really need the offical one if you want to use an external sound system (speakers et al). If it's just the TV speakers you're using you have a bit more leeway.

    I think Fitzer is on the right track. Also, are you using the TV's speakers, or do you have an external sound system? If you're using the TV's speakers, many TVs (Sharp and Sony for sure, probably Phillips I would imagine) have settings specific to audio
    over HDMI. There are different formats for audio to traverse a system.

    You can also check things like - TV speakers are typically only stereo. Make sure your Xbox is set to use stereo and not 5.1 or anything if you are using stereo TV speakers.
