Hey guys, It’s been exactly a month now (from after download Decembers Beta Update) where I’m experiencing an issue where whenever I turn on my Xbox controller for my Xbox series X, my console doesn’t turn on with controller, yet the controller light is solid. It’s not blinking like it’s not connected to the Xbox.

The only time your controllers light should be solid is when it’s connected to your Xbox console or PC, if it’s not then it’s supposed to blink!

-Lately whenever I turn on my “Regular” Xbox series X controller, my Elite series 2 controller or EVEN my Xbox wireless headset (that also is supposed to turn it on console) They all turn on normal and light up solid like they’re connected to the console/also turn the console on.

Also keep in mind I have 2 Xbox series X and their both doing it since December 17ths update in Beta Ring, so I know it’s not just my hardware

Is anyone else experiencing this? -I already did a factory reset -I actually also removed my Xbox console from Xbox insiders so I could download the standard update version that’s out for the general public -many other troubleshooting steps and nope, strangest thing.

The only time your controllers are EVEN solid white is when they are connected, soo what I’m saying is it is possible for you console to be off while your controller is still connected to it. Because the 2.4Ghz Xbox WiFi Transmitter inside your console is actually always on, waiting to pick up any connections. Almost like how you TV puts out Bluetooth even though your not using it and can’t shut it off, smart TVs now a days won’t let you turn off Bluetooth, unless you go into the Engineers Servcice menu and manually turn it off like I did on my Samsung tv lol. So if anyone else is experiencing this let me know, thanks

Hey there Art! I assume you're using a wireless controller here. Unfortunately there isn't a way that I'm aware of to disable the controller waking the console when turned on. When you take it to your computer, you could briefly unplug your console from
power. The only other option I'd have to give is to pick up a second controller, either another wireless one for your console, or a new wired one for your PC. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with, thanks!

so say no controller is on the dock, and i hold the xbox button on the controller, select turn off console....will that power the console back on, or will the controller turn off? When i am having this problem, the console and the controller both turn off,
and then only the console logo lights back up, not the controller, if that helps clear up my issue, thanks 24hrs2live.

I used the controller to turn off the console and the controller stayed on after it went off. When I tried to use the controller to turn on the console with the controller the controller came on but not the console. Everything works fine after after a hard
reset. But only until I turn it off and restart it, then it happens all over again.

guide for further assistance.

To turn off your Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, press and hold the
Guide button  on the controller for three seconds. Next, select to turn off just the controller or the controller and the console. If you select the console, the console and all connected controllers are
turned off.
To turn off only the console, press the power button on the console.

I have the exact same problem.

I can use the controllers for any length of time once connected but as soon as I turn the console off the controller gets disconnected once I turn the unit back on.

If I try to turn the unit back on via the controller the LED on the controller simply flashes and the console stays off.

If I turn the console on manually the controller isn't connected and no amount of re'syncing will fix it.

The only way for me to reconnect the controller is to do a full system reset and then use the controller to turn on the console.

Really annoying having to full reset my console every time I want to use it.

Considering returning the console.
