    'Turn On' Xbox One from Windows 10 Not Working But SmartGlass Does


    I am unable to turn on my Xbox One from the Windows 10 Xbox app, receiving the following error message "We are unable to turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console and your console is set to instant-on".
    However, if the Xbox One is already on, I can connect and utilize game streaming from Windows 10. On the same network, I can successfully turn on the Xbox One from the SmartGlass app on my iPhone and then connect to the Xbox One for game streaming from Windows
    10. Any ideas for how to get the Xbox One to turn on directly from Windows 10 without having to use the SmartGlass app? Thanks!

    Xbox One Remote Turn on Issue (From App)

    The remote turn on feature from the Xbox app was broken with the latest update. Is Microsoft aware of this? There's been a thread about it on Reddit for some time now.

    Yes, I have verified all my settings are correct. I can stream my Xbox One over my network to my Windows 10 computer, I just can't turn the Xbox on that way. I am not the only one having this issue. Remote turn on is not working with the Windows 10 application
    or Android SmartGlass application (the only 2 apps I've tried).

    Please post if you're having the same issue or know of any workaround.

    Smartglass is more a legacy app and still exists for those on Windows Phone 8 or Windows 8 where the Xbox App does not (yet) exist. For Windows 10, you are right in that the Xbox App essentially replaces Smartglass.

    No, the Xbox 360 SmartGlass app is not compatible with Windows 10. However, Microsoft has a newer app called Xbox app that works on Windows 10 and provides similar features such as remote control, streaming, and social features for Xbox One consoles.
