Turn off parental control on old account without “parent”

Basically my stepdad put parental controls on my old Xbox account and I’m 19 years old. I had ofc used an alt account as my main for the past 5 years but I have a lot of progress on a few good games here. I want to turn the controls off without using the parent account bc me and him fell off a few years back. Anyway any sort of help would be appreciated.

Sorry to say buddy but in order to remove parental controls for the account is necessary first yes or yes use the parent account to remove you from family group or turn off these permissions

This is due to security reasons for the child account.

this is part of the parental controls. access to live is turned off, you need to turn parental controls off.

try creating a new gamertag (and deleting all old ones) and put your age as over 18 or 21 in the US

Have you got a family account setup at all, or parental controls?

That may be the issue.

Try asking your parent/guardian to turn off their parental controls, and reply if it does not help.

If your parent/guardian does not know how to turn parental controls off, tell them to promote the Xbox Live account to an adult one, instead of a child one. You may have a child account, instead of a full adult account.

You cannot change the age but you can turn off Parental Controls. See:
support.xbox.com/.../parental-control for the steps (that document tells you how to turn them on but it is the same steps for turning them off... You can see the Off option in the image).

Is there any parental restrictions on your console ?

If you did not create a Live account that is not over 18 years old, it is unfortunately impossible to COMPLETELY remove the parental controls on the Xbox, however, it is possible to almost completely turn them off. If you have access to the 'parent' account
of the child's account on the Xbox 360 and you have your own Xbox Live Gamertag, you can login using your Windows Live account on Xbox.com and change parental control settings.

If the "Child" account has reached the age of 18, then you need to sign into the "Parent" account and follow these steps to convert the account to an "Adult" account:

Go to My Xbox, and open your profile.

Select Manage Account.

Select Promote Child Account.

Follow the required steps.

If the "Child" account is NOT atleast 18 years old then this is how to modify the Parental Control settings (Note: You can NOT completely disable Parental Controls, games that have ratings above the neccesary age can NOT be downloaded on the "Child"account):

Sign in using the "Child" account's Live email address and password.

Click on the gamertag in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Click the Manage Profile button.

Under the Gamer Profile heading, choose "Family Settings".

It will now ask to sign in as the "Parent" account.

After signing in, you can change the Parental Control limitations.

When done, click the save button at the bottom of the page.
