Trying to sync data from a gamepass game, 99% gpu usage. Why?

I tried to sync my data from the cloud several days ago, used 99% GPU for several minutes, got up to 80+ degrees celcius... I allowed it to finish, but I'm very concerned about how hot it makes my GPU. I just reinstalled Windows because of some errors, and this happened to me once again after re-downloading subnautica. I used alt+ f4 because I didn't want my GPU overheating again.

I even have a save file backup that I downloaded to a USB stick... but gamepass doesn't allow for easy interfacing with game files. Is there anything I can do to make windows use my save file to avoid syncing data and overheating my GPU again?

To my understanding of computers, there is no reason why syncing data should use 100% of my GPU on an RX 6600 xt. I am left to believe that microsoft is using my PC to mine bitcoin. If someone could comfirm or deny this that would be most welcome!

What the hell, it can get hotter than steam?! That's incredible. Are you sure it's safe to get it very hot though?

I'm not entirely sure why the save sync is using the GPU like that. However, despite the heat reported, it's still nothing really to worry about.

The RX 6XXX cards have several heat sensors, the 'Hot Spot' is the most hottest part of the GPU Die (the hottest part of the chip) at the time the temperature is reported, not the whole GPU.

While 85c is rather hot, it's not beyond the design specifications of the card. The RX 6XXX series can hit a toasty 110c before it thermal throttles. It won't overheat.

Thanks for your reply my friend. As you can see here, my GPU temp was 76 degrees! It went up to 85 degrees before it was done! That is dangerous temperature for a GPU and it's definitely not healthy to run that hot. I'm just wondering, what kind of programming is causing this to happen? Where is the code that tells my PC to use 100% of my GPU at full speed to sync data? It makes no sense!

Yes, it's safe. The GPU's own firmware will throttle the card before it reaches an unsafe temperature.

That's a high temperature for sure, my friend.

As I said, some spikes in cpu or gpu are understandable, but in your case that's clearly something going on. If you're playing this game on xbox app, try to repair it:

Select the Start button > Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Select the game that's not working, and then select Advanced options under the name of the game. On the page that opens with information about the game, select Repair.

If the GPU spike is happening on every game that you play (not only with one game), I would completely uninstall xbox app, and try to Update Windows and all devices' drivers. Then, install xbox app again.
