Trying to recover my Xbox account.

    Hi there!

A few weeks ago I attempted to delete skype, unbeknownst to me it actually deleted the Microsoft account associated with all of my Microsoft services. Unfortunately (I THINK) this e-mail was also registered to my Xbox Account. However, i'm able to search my Xbox account, and it's still up. Where do I go from here? Is there any way to find out which e-mail was registered to that account, and if it's the one that was wiped with Skype, can I still recover it since it's still up.

    :)

    Hello NJFYA,

    Thanks for the reply.

Sorry for the delay on answering your concern, yes, all services linked to your account's data will be deleted after waiting period. If any case your email account has domains like @live.com, @msn.com, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com. Its mailbox will be deactivated and the email account itself will not be recreated as Microsoft account.

Additional information about closing account is available here: Microsoft Services Agreement (Section 4. a. iv. 1&2)

    Hi NJFYA,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

If you are referring to closing an account, which give you multiple things to accept and read before you proceed to close a Microsoft account. Then, re logging into your account will disregard the close of it. You may go to account.microsoft.com and log-in to your account to reactivate.

However, if you are referring to deactivation of an email account that is not a Microsoft email domain. Microsoft Email Domains are @live.com, @msn.com, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com. Hopefully, you have secured it well so you can verify it with the account security info.

In any case, my description did not fit. Please check this support article if you are familiar with it or the steps discussed. This is the support article for closing a Microsoft account - How to close your Microsoft account.

We look forward to your response.

Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

Trying to recover my Xbox account.

Hi there, when entering the E-Mail address for the account, it says it doesn't exist. I assume this means that it is too late to recover the account. Yet for some reason, the Xbox Gamertag and Skype account associated with that E-Mail is still visible. (I can search for both on Xbox and Skype, and they're still up.) Is there a reason for this? I'm quite alright with my accounts being closed, but I was under the assumption that the data would be deleted with them.

    Something of note:

When closing the account, I selected 30 days til closure. I am fairly certain that it was over 30 days ago, but am not entirely sure I closed the accounts more than 60 days ago. Could it be that the data on the accounts still take 60 days to properly delete?

    Best regards.

Hey there keef! I do understand where you're coming from, especially considering what you see on the forums, but I want to clear something up. The vast majority of UA cases are completed within the 25-day estimate and control is returned to the user without
any hassle. The cases you are seeing here on the forums are issues that are more complicated, and we are working directly with the UA team to sort these out and resolve them as fast as possible.

One thing you can do to ensure the safety and security of your account is take a look at our
Security Page and follow the guidelines listed there. There are tips to creating and maintaining secure account information. Let me know if I can be of further assistance here. Thanks!
