    I used to play xbox 360 with an account that my older brother created for me, but when the xbox one came out I had to create a new account because I never knew the email or password of that account,
    more than 4 years have passed since I lost that account and I want to try to get it back.

    Hi! If you are unable to recover your account via web, I recommend you contact Xbox support by phone. They will ask you for some security procedures (you should do it with the assistance of those who created the old account) https://beta.support.xbox.com

    Recovering Gamertag Gone Wrong.

    You have the WLID incorrect.

    you have a contact email address on your acount and a WLID.

    the contact email address is where you are getting the emails to and the WLID is something different.

    You can contact support and go through some questions with one of the agents and they can give you the WLID so you can recover your gamertag.

    or try using an old email address that you might have to recover.
