Trying to recover an account from the 360.

Sans, before Microsoft there is only one method for account recovery, for which you must know all the data of that account since you must prove to the system that you are actually the holder of that account.

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/. Once there, they must click on the circle in the upper right corner of the screen. Then click login.

If as a user you do not have any of the recovery options connected to your account, you should click on the selection that says "I do not have any of these". When you click on that link, they will be sent to a Microsoft form. You must complete it, including all pertinent information, and Microsoft will contact you and try to help them recover to regain access to your account.

If the user has forgotten their login information, they should go to login. Choose your login options. This will ask you to enter an alternate email address associated with the account or a phone number.

If the user does not have another linked account to help provide account access, it is recommended to create another account. Once they create the account, they must use the new account to log in and select "forgotten password". By choosing the option "I forgot my password", you will be sent the link to the form mentioned above. completed the form Microsoft will contact you.

Try restarting your Xbox 360 Console

If that doesn't work, recover your account.

Don't have another 360 (or access to one) to do this with. I removed the HDD from the system and tried to recover to a flash drive which ended up with the same results. I've tried deleting the account from the 360 to recover it, same results.

Delete the Gamertag from the Xbox 360 Console. Only delete the Gamertag. Recover the Gamertag. You will need the Windows Live ID and Password to Recover that account.
