Please repair or reset the Xbox App. Since the crash occurs in the Xbox app, start by repairing or resetting it by going to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.

Locate the Xbox App, click Advanced Options, and choose: Repair. This won’t delete your data. If the issue persists, choose Reset.

And then reinstall Gaming Services. To do this, open PowerShell as Administrator.

Run the following commands:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Reinstall Gaming Services and restart your PC.

Next is to update Windows. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Install all available updates, including optional updates.

Then repair System Files because a corrupted system files like combase.dll may be causing crashes. Please open Command Prompt as Administrator.

Run the following commands one at a time:

System File Checker:

sfc /scannow

DISM Tool:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart your PC after the scans are complete.

After that is to disable overlays from apps like NVIDIA GeForce Experience or Xbox Game Bar can conflict with games. To do this, open NVIDIA GeForce Experience, go to Settings > General, and disable In-Game Overlay.

Disable the Xbox Game Bar by going to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar and toggling it off.

Kindly uninstall the Xbox app from Settings > Apps. Open the Microsoft Store and reinstall the Xbox app.

Since Oblivion and other games are affected, please uninstall one of the problematic games and then reinstall it via the Xbox app and test if the issue persists.

I keep trying to play this game but I keep getting snatched by a very persistant Alien.

NurseKrisa, I am not sure what you're referring to when you mentions the "Apps option". In order to reset the Store cache, you only need to open the Start Screen and follow the instructions from our FAQ.
