    If you're trying to play online, you need Core (or Ultimate which includes Core) in order to be able to play online. That's not a bug.

    I would like to clarify, are you being prompted to choose a plan either Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

    It may be asking for an Xbox Live Gold subscription which is required to play an online multiplayer game.
