Trying to launch a game from Xbox app opens the Microsoft store

I had the same issue trying to launch Halo infinite from the Xbox app but instead, the MS store poped out and nothing happend.

My solution was unistall the game and reinstall it, seems that worked but not quite sure if its a proper solution.

I just had the same problem a few minutes ago, and I tried everything MateusFontana advised, but none of it worked. I was, however, able to start my game by finding it in my files and opening the launcher from there. I tried creating a new shortcut to the launcher, and it loaded the launcher, but the launcher would not load the game. I would recommend maybe a shortcut to the folder the launcher is in for quick access, but as I said, it only worked for me in the file browser.

SOLUTION

This happened to me when I tried to launch a Game Pass game (Wolfenstein: The New Order) after my subscription had expired. I renewed my sub, but the Windows Store kept launching.

I fixed it by launching a game I didn't need a subscription for. Try a free game like Halo: Infinite, or a game you own. After I did that, Wolfenstein launched without a problem.
