Trying to enter code for prepaid gold membership

You can not remove a payment method if it is tied into a current gold subscriptions, the subscription will need to first be cancelled or run out for you to remove it. So, you are saying you can not enter a code for a prepaid membership? Or you are trying
to add a prepaid credit card?

no i sadly just get "Ivalid code. Please try again". its a prepaid code for 3 months of gold membership

Sign in to Xbox LIVE with the account for which you want to use the prepaid code.

Press the Guide button on the controller.

Go to Games & Apps and select Redeem Code.

Enter the 25-character prepaid code and select Done.

When prompted, click Yes to confirm the redemption.

Here is what happens to your account when you redeem different types of prepaid codes:

Xbox 360 Entertainment For All Plan: You cannot “stack” or combine prepaid subscriptions during the life of the contract.

Xbox LIVE Gold Membership: An Xbox LIVE Gold Membership is added to your account, or an existing membership is extended.

Microsoft Points: Microsoft Points are added to your account.

Xbox LIVE Marketplace content: The content is added to your account and begins downloading.

If you have entered the code on your console you'll get a screen that explains what it is and then asks you to confirm. All you need to do is click the button that says Confirm.

However, if the code is for Xbox currency then please be aware that you cannot use currency to purchase a Gold membership. You can only purchase memberships with a valid credit card, paypal or prepaid Gold membership card.
