Trying to download PC game to external hard drive

Have you used the External hard drive on any other systems? (PC maybe) if so this caused the hard drive to be incompatible with downloading games and you must reformat the external hard drive.

So, did you downloaded the game on your external hard drive with another PC and you connected the same external device to a different PC and tried to play the game and then it was when the error appeared?

And yes, in that case try creating a new NTFS partition on your external drive and see how it goes the installation

Thanks for coming to the forums. Sorry for the issue with your external hard drive. We recommend to try it on a PC. If it does the same we recommend to re-format the hard drive and download the games again.

The drive needs to be formatted with NTFS file system

But a question, how is the hard drive connected? USB 3.0 or USB-C?

USB 3 looks like normal usb and often has blue inside the connector. C is a small connector

If it is USB 3.0 it won’t work, the drive connection is too slow to play the game

To format the hard drive go to Disk management, right click on the drive, choose format, and then select ntfs from the drop-down and hit quick format.

Please be aware this will erase the existing contents of the drive

The 0x80070005 error is related to access permissions in Windows.

Are you logged into an Adminstrator account?

Also, are you trying to download your games on Xbox App? Can you try to download them on Microsoft Store to see if it works there?

Also, are you trying to download them on a fixed hard drive or an external hard drive? If you have 2 hard drivers (or one external hard drive, or even 2 partitions on the same hard drive), try to change the download/install location. I can give you a step by step for that if you have 2 partitions or one external HD.
