    Trying to add an email address


    Hello Microsoft community,

    My problem: "Issue Type: Invitation doesn't match sign-in."

    My ultimately goal is to receive a sharepoint share with my primary email address.

    My ideal solution would be to have the same setup similar to what I have with gmail, a single account linked/associated with one used for gaming. That is, I would prefer to log into a single Microsoft account (billing entity) to manage both email addresses.
    I don't know if that's possible with Live. I don't quite understand how emails map to accounts with it.

    Constraints:

    * At present, my Live account is only for gaming.

    * I don't want my personal email on my Xbox (if I buy one again) or almost any site I use with Live.

    * The share I need to receive is from an external party, my apartment's management company.

    * I don't want to share my gaming email with my apartment manager.

    I think I attempted to create another account but was thwarted by my phone number already being associated with my current account. I now have my main email setup as an alias (and not primary), but I can't receive the share because the userid isn't as expected.

    My concern about switching to my main email as primary is that my real name is going to show up where previously only my gamer tag was visible ('cause my gaming email and gamer tag match). Also, I think I tried this and it still didn't work (but I was kind
    of paranoid and might've switched back to the other email before settings...were persisted?? idk... *sighs*)

    What are my options? Is what I'm aiming to do possible?

    P.S. I've gave up on search because my question has too many keywords associated with irrelevant situations.

    P.P.S. Why isn't there an Account or Live category? It's a headache to choose where to post this in ever channel (this forum and previously bashed my head against the virtual agent chat madness...for hours...tried the line to get to a human three times...connection
    died before I could get near front of line...every time...).

    Trying to add an email address [RESOLVED]

    Removed the alias and created a separate account. (I was able to create the new account immediately after removing the alias, but not while it was present.) The share was accessible immediately after logging into the account.

    Now I'm wondering how to setup two-factor auth for the separate account with my phone number on the other. Onto the next...

    Hi Participant,

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have a question on two step. In order for it to work, would need to remove it from the first account. Here is a guide for

    turning off two step verification    . Just do opposite to turn it on.

    I'm trying to add my new email as alias on my old gamertag but it doesn't work!

    I select "Add an existing email address as a Microsoft account alias" and than I put my email @outlook.com when a message comes up "This email address is already taken. Please try another one"
