    Trouble transferring game progress from Xbox one S to Xbox series x


    We used network transfer to save games from Xbox one S to a Hard drive. We also backed up settings to the hard drive.

    When we plugged the hard drive into the new X console and loaded forza 5 on the new Xbox X, it didn’t load any old game progress and took us to the beginning of the game.

    We closed forza and then loaded forza again on the new X console and it gave us a choice to load from the cloud or the console as the sync copies didn’t match. We selected the cloud but it still didn’t have the game progress.

    The old console still had the progress.

    We loaded forza again on the new X console, this time when it prompted to use the sync copy in cloud or console, we picked console. The new X still didn’t have the progress, and when we checked the old 1S console, we had now lost all the game progress on the old console.

    Firstly, why didn’t the game progress come across after we did the network transfer to the hard drive, and secondly, can we get the progress back on the old console?

    We have other games that we don’t want to lose so need to know how this should work.

    Hello,

    Keep in mind that this would only apply to games that support Smart Delivery, which is a feature that the developers decide to enable. The full library is confirmed here:

    GTA 5 is one example that doesn’t support Smart Delivery - meaning that you would unfortunately need to purchase the game again if upgrading to a Series X|S. Your game saves/progress (including your online character) can be transferred, though:

    What games are you transferring? Which consoles are involved? If it's transferring from, say, a Series X/S to an Xbox One, then it may be because the games are S/X versions.

    As to the expansion pack, I believe that is only available to the account that bought it and the console that account is on...it can't be transferred to another account on another console

    On the EA website it says progress can transfer over between console families, just not cross-platform. Therefore, progress should transfer between Xbox One and Series X like other games.

    Yes. Xbox One games are compatible with the Series S/X and your progress will carry over.

    If it is a disk game and you are trying to transfer to an xbox one s digital or the xbox series s then no you are waisting your time

    Those are digital only consoles and disks installs require the bluesy or dvd to validate the install

    Digitally purchased game's can be transfered to save time yes

    If it's to an xbox one x or regular xbox one s or xbox series x disk and digital will work with them
