Trouble redeeming free one-month Xbox Live Gold trial subscription with new account

The free month of Xbox Live gold can be applied from the account creation process if you are making a new account.

Or

If you already have a Microsoft account and don’t have an active Xbox Live Gold paid subscription, you may be able to sign up for an Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription.

Here’s how to sign up:

1. Sign in to the Subscriptions page with your Microsoft account.
2. If you’re eligible for a free trial, you’ll see Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial as a subscription offering. Select Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial, and then select Next.
3. If prompted, add a payment option to your account. If you already have a payment option on file, you can use that.

Important At the end of the first (free) month, your trial subscription automatically turns into a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription that renews monthly by default. The paid Xbox Live Gold subscription will renew to the payment option you
added to your account.

If you don’t want the Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription to renew, you must cancel it. See “How to cancel an Xbox Live Gold trial subscription,” below.

As you've mentioned, you're getting an error code 80190128. This may mean that the Xbox Live Gold free trial subscription that you’re trying to sign up for has already been redeemed. It is either your Xbox Live account already redeemed the free trial Gold
subscription or the console that you're using already reached the limit for trial accounts (3 per console).

Some games or console bundles may include a prepaid code for a 2, 3, or 14 day Xbox Live Gold trial subscription.

I do not believe Xbox offers the one month free trial any longer with new accounts.

Trials are basically like a beta. There are limits to trials, reason the games are asking you to purchase is due to it isn't a full Xbox live gold subscription. You also need billing information on the account to get free games with gold that are backward
compatible. If you are still having trouble after getting gold with the games please feel free to come back and we will help you out. here is a article on

Here it clearly states cant redeem backward compatible

@ngocphi - its not a 14 day trial, its the one month trial for new accounts.

From the XBox Live site:

"You can also sign up for an Xbox Live Gold trial membership when you create your new account online. Here's how:

After you create a Microsoft account, sign in to the Subscriptions page.

Select Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial, then click Next.

Click Add a credit card.

Enter your billing information, then click Next.

Follow the prompts to complete the sign-up process."
