trouble receiving security code

Sorry your having issues receiving the code. Are you updating your contact information from your Xbox or the website? If your doing it from your console you should try the website. Here how and hopefully thishelps.

Update your billing contact information

If you've moved or changed your name, email address, or phone number, you must update the billing info in your Microsoft account. Here's how:

1. Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in to the Microsoft account you want to update.
2. Select Edit profile, and then make the changes needed to update your billing information.

If you just changed your phone number to a new number, the security code is being sent to the OLD number.

This is, so that hackers can't simply add their own phone number, and take control over your account.

If you don't have access to your old number anymore, you'll have to wait until next month, when your new number becomes an active security info.

While you're at it, in order to prevent such long waiting times in the future, make sure you keep your security info up to date, and have multiple security measures as a fallback.

I recommend to have a secondary email, a mobile phone, and if applicable also a landline phone number added to your account.

And most importantly: Enable Two Step Verification for your account, and set up the free Authenticator App on your phone. With that, a hacker can't get into your account, even if they get hold of your password, as the Live service needs a code confirmation
that only your phone can provide.
