trouble playing multiplayer

I turned 18 roughly a month ago, and xbox said my account is over 18. However, the multiplayer and realms option in minecraft java is greyed out. I used my parents account and added myself as a child and changed the settings, but that didn't work either.

Note: A child account is registered on the birthdate 21 years old and below upon the account's first creation while an adult account is registered on the birthdate 22 years old and older.

this actually clears up some of the frustrations that i had. Thank you.

yes. that, and I tried adjusting the parental controls so i would be able to play multiplayer.

5MB, download pretty much faster on xbox360 and no trouble playing co-op and/or multiplayer on xbox live.
