Trouble Connecting Xbox Wireless Controller to Windows 11

Is this your first time connecting this controller to your PC? The latest Xbox controller firmware update may affect Bluetooth connectivity and performance with some older non-Xbox devices. If your controller is having Bluetooth-related issues after a firmware update, you can choose to revert your controller to an earlier firmware version to correct the problem.

On your Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system > Xbox Support > Get help > Help topics > Hardware & networking > Controllers > My Xbox controller has connection issues after the last update. Select Check your controller’s firmware to open the controller firmware reversion screen in the Xbox Accessories app, and then follow the instructions in the app.

I suggest you test by trying to update your controller using Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Update your controller on Windows 10/11 by using the Xbox Accessories app:
If you don't already have the app installed, get it in the Store:
Microsoft Store
Open the Xbox Accessories app.
Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows.
When the controller is connected, you'll see the message Update Required if an update is mandatory. Install the update.

The Xbox app Game Pass App is going to come pre-installed on Windows 11, and Microsft want users to connect their controllers trouble free to the new OS.

The biggest issue would be to check if your PC is compatible for Windows 11, not your controllers.

In any event, Win 11 won't suddenly make Win 10 obsolete.
