Transferring Xbox One saves to PC.

Is it possible to transfer save files from console to PC? I tried using an external hard drive to copy my save, but when i reconnected the hard drive to my computer it doesn't allow me to take action with it. I'm quite a ways through The Outer Worlds before
I realized its playable to PC gamepass. Any advice would be appreciated.

As stated by Njal the Blue, you have cross save (shared progress between platforms) between a xbox and PC games only if it is part of the
xbox play anywhere program, here you can see a list of the games included in this program: xbox_play_anywhere

For example the outer worlds is not part of this program and the two version of Xbox and PC cannot share the progress, they are like two total different games.

Thanks for coming to the forums. Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer save data. The games that are play anywhere titles, will download your save from the cloud. If you purchase through steam or download from game pass, you will need to start fresh.

the only games that will have a cross save ability will be the Xbox Play Anywhere games.

They will have a special 'tag' in the Store saying they are Xbox Play Anywhere games, which will mean that the console and PC games will use the same save game.

So not if they're just on game pass and can be played on PC? like is there a difference?
