Transferring games across PCs? Need support

Many internet plans have a data cap, making it basically unfeasible to download a big game like Avowed or Starfield on more than 1 device. For example, if I want to play on my desktop PC, and then if I go on a trip/vacation playing it on my laptop... I'd need to download the game twice, so 150+gb for 1 game. Well, I thought maybe I'll just copy the game files from 1 pc to another. Didn't work. It deleted the whole folder I copied over, and didn't seem to work at all. How do we handle this?

Hey - not sure what you mean? Is there a way like Steam has to backup a game and then add it to a new pc? I'm trying to make a carbon copy of the game not necessarily move it and delete the old copy.

Copy the directory on machine one, move it, move it back

you have to use the apps menu to transfer games. The DRM's machine specific

The game files are different from Xbox to PC so you cannot transfer games across platforms.

You can't transfer the games themselves across, no. If any of them are Play Anywhere games, then you can download and install the PC version for free...any others and you will need to purchase them again. As to the game saves, a lot of games have cross-platform saves so it may be possible to continue your progress on the PC version
