Transferring bought games from Dad account to Child account who is now and Adult.

Hi,

So 5 years ago I bought an Xbox one for my Child who was 13 at the time. So we where forced to create two Account's and Adult account mine and a child account My Daughter's. Over the years we had to my account to purchase games etc. Now my child is 18 soon to be 19 and an Adult who now will be moving out and taking her Xbox with her. I have searched but doesn't seem to an answer on Microsoft's site.

So question is how to transfer all purchases and the device over to her Microsoft account without loosing the games we have paid for.

Hello Stan, sorry to say but you cant transfer purchases like that. It will stay with the main account that purchased it. If you set your account on her XBox as Home XBox it will allow her to still play all the games you have purchased. Bellow is a video that shows how to do so.

there is no way to transfer the xbox account or anything related to it, the microsoft account which belongs to your dad cannot be split or things moved from it, if you add an alias it will still be yours dads account and could lead to issues with it if you did that. this is why all users should have their own account from child to adult.

all you can do is create a new account, have your dads account set as home on the console and start over.

It is not possible to convert an adult account to a child account. You would need to create a new child account. There is no way to transfer any of the saves or gamerscore to the new account from the adult account.

It is my understanding that the child accounts I have setup for my kids will transfer to adult accounts when they turn 18. This means their achievements and games purchased with the child account will now be a normal adult account.

For example, I have XXX24 setup as the parent account with child accounts YYY24 and YYY25. When YYY24 turns 18 the account is now removed from being a child account attached to XXX24 and is now a standard account keeping the gamertag YYY24 and all achievements
and digital games purchased with that account. Someday when my kid "YYY24" has their own kids it will be a parent account with new child accounts under it.

The only difference between a Parent Account and a Child Account is that one resides under the other. With the right settings, a Child Account can have the same unrestricted access as the Parent Account. My oldest child does not have any restrictions on
their account so it really is similar to a standard account.
