.Hi so i have recently bought the Xbox Series S I have some transfered games from my old xbox with an external storage drive. The games were im am trying to play were two expensive games 60$ USD each after upgrading to X/S when i launch the game it says "If you bought this online make sure you're signed in. If you don't have rights for playing it you.ll need to get it at the microsoft store"(Error Code In the title))).

The game was a disc game transfered which should be digital if transfered or converted I have tried countless things. Nothing in xbox assist says anything about this when I press view in mc store and press manage It says "Game Not Installed" If i click the Primary Pause (3 Lines) I can install on internal storage or external drive. It then says in a install menu the network settings symbol and "Check back in a little bit"

Unfortunately, you cannot play disc games on the Xbox Series S. The disc is used to prove you own the game. Since the Series S doesn't have a disc drive, the games have to be owned digitally.

As alluded to above, to play a disc game, the disc needs to be physically inserted into the machine for you to play it...due to the Series S lacking a disc drive, you won't be able to play it. You either need to purchase the digital version of the games in question or you need to return the Series S for refund (depending on the store's refund policy) and buy a Series X

A disc game cannot be transferred or converted into a digital game. It will always require you to insert the disc due to the licensing for said game being encoded into the disc.

This may help you out - but blueamcat is correct, physical disc needs to be in the machine that plays the game. However, you can stream the game to a PC screen by using the Xbox Console Companion.

You'll still need to move the disc to play it, which is the game license. If that makes sense.

Yeah it makes sense from a practical viewpoint. As they want to be sure you’re not just copying the game to sell to someone else.

It just makes no sense from a technical one, because you could tag the account as having the physical copy validated already, and not being logged on in more than one place. It really wouldn’t be that difficult.

Thanks again for the clarification. The limitation is still stupid, but at least I understand it better, and know to avoid physical xbox games in the future.

Hi there, thanks for your answer. Does it matter if I’m not trying to play at the same time?

I want to be able to stop playing in one room, sign out, and then start in another room.

If this really, truly, isn’t possible it has to be just about the dumbest thing I’ve heard of yet. I mean, I can literally do this very thing on the PS4.
