Transfer My Sons Xbox Account to His Own Microsoft Account

Hi, around 2011 I purchased Minecraft Java for my son using my own email (this Microsoft account). So naturally when we migrated the Mojang account it got migrated to my personal Microsoft account. Now my son is an adult, and due to safety and privacy reasons we would like to transfer the Minecraft user to my sons own Microsoft account, and was wondering if that was possible?

Unfortunately nothing is transferable between accounts.

When my son was younger I created an xbox account using my microsoft account. He has since grown up so I want him to take over his xbox account (without losing has games, etc) using his own microsoft account. How do I do this? Seems like it should be an easy solution but I'm not finding a lot of information on how to do this.

Hi, I’m William, and if you are just looking to change the email associated with the account then this should do. You’ll want to make the new email the primary and remove the old one, this shouldn’t interfere with the games.

The problem you have is that the Xbox account and Microsoft accunts, for all intents and purposes, are the same account as they are intrinsically linked...there is no way to separate them

There isn't a way to transfer accounts on the Microsoft platform. What you can do however is add your son's email address as an alias to the account.

You can easily havr him create his own account and log into his xbox.

He will lose access to his saved games and anything linked to your account. They cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account, nor can his gamertag.

He would essentially be starting fresh on his account.
