"Too many refund requests this year" from trying to refund Minecraft twice?

My mate recently bought Minecraft Bedrock and Java for £25, but never received either game, so he refunded it. After 3 days, he never got his money back or the game. He went to return the game once more, and was given the "Too many refunds this year" error, meaning that he lost £25, because he wasn't given the game...
Seems like an issue on Microsoft's behalf to me

    :)

"Too many refund requests this year" from trying to refund Minecraft twice?

Hi there Argoose99, my name is Gerardo, and I'm an Xbox player, just like you. I'll be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

Please pass on the following information to your friend:

If your refund has been denied, and you believe it's an error because you haven't requested any other refund this year, please reply to the email you received informing you of the refund rejection. In your response, explain in detail the reasons why they should reconsider their decision and why you believe they should accept it. This is the only way to appeal the rejection and to get back in touch with the team that originally handled your refund request.

In case you haven't received any email informing you of the refund rejection even after 24 hours, and after checking your spam/junk email folder, then I recommend reapplying for the refund using this alternative link:

    https://support.xbox.com/forms/request-a-refund

If your refund is denied again this time, you should now receive an email informing you of the denial, as this is the only way they have to communicate this information when the refund is requested through that link. When you receive the email, respond to it as I mentioned before.

Please note that in this public community forum, we are just players like you trying to assist and guide other players. This means we don't have access to other accounts or access to refund information of other users.

Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you good luck.

    Kind regards,
    Gerardo.

    Refund denied

The refund policy doesn't refer to the calender year. It's not too many refunds in 2022, it's too many refunds since March 2021. It's rolling year that they count.

I’ve been denied a refund request for no apparent reason?

    Hi,

it seems that you have requested too many refunds. That means you will not be able to refund anything for one year.

I must admit I don't really understand why you've refunded "random games that you didn't play" ???

I mean if people misusing the possibility of refunds for 'trial before buy' and will be blocked for one year makes sense somehow. But you didn't even play those games ???

Refunds causes work and work causes costs.

PS: This is a community forum. We don't make the rules - we just try to explain them.

    Glitchy Digital Game

    To Whom it may Concern,

Bought a game via digitally a year ago,... it is glitchy, ...

Kindly request Exchange or $15 Refund. ... already bought a replacement this year in hopes to run better. I hope someone listens to common sense & do the right thing. How do I get a Refund???
You usually can't purchase a digital game twice on your account, unless your manage to buy two different versions (e.g. the standard game, and later a Game of the Year version).

If you bought the game on disc, be aware that if your console is connected online, the disc is the very same version of the download game. So if the download version glitches, the newly bought version will glitch, too.

As the others already said, you can't refund a game you owned over a year already.

    You might try to
    use the refund form
to get a refund for the newly bought game, and explain that you erroneously purchased the same version of the game twice, trying to get the new purchase refunded.

    Purchases by child

Try putting in a refund request for the remaining items and as long as there is not a certain amount of time from which the purchase was made too when the refund was requested, they should process a refund for you, as you did not make these purchases.
Hopefully things get sorted for you and all the best.
