User friendly is very common these days but it is not how I would describe Microsoft. I tried to separate my email from my sons Fortnite account which is attached to a different email. Thought I could change just the account attached to Xbox but unknowingly
deleted my email of over a decade! Now all I want is to change the gamer tag from my Brittanica tag to my sons tag Nubnub52 since it’s now his weird email but no it costs $10 and no one can change that! I don’t think Microsoft knows the first thing about customer
service!

Ah that's some bad news

I'm surprised they aren't able to recover your email as they did it for my brother a couple of years back but his wasn't an MSN email it was a ho6mail so maybe that's part of the problem with recovery

gamertag cost has always been a thing since 360 days, you are allowed to change it once for free from the random generated gamertag given upon sign up -> Gamertag

my condolences to your lose.

having customer problem experience, most of time customer did something wrong and complained about it.

i would recommend to you google it before you delete or change something you don't know
