“To play this you need to buy it” I own the disc… have been playing it for weeks. WTH

We may need to perform a powercycle on your console and then remove the disc, after that insert the disc again.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

When you insert the disc, make sure the disc has been read before you start the game.

There's no way around needing to own the games digitally in order to play them on a Series S. So if you own a game on disc, you would have to buy it digitally in order to play it.

Since you own it on disc, you would need the disc in the drive (on the console) in order to play it. You would have been able to download and play on the PC because of Game Pass.

You need a license to play the game. Since you own it on disc, your license is on that disc. So the disc needs to be in the console in order to prove you own the game. Since the Series S does not have a disc drive, you would not be able to play it with a disc copy. You would need to own it digitally.
