Tidy up my messy microsoft accounts

Hello

I need to tidy up the following:

Account 1. I have a microsoft account with the email that I
want to use forever, but a gamertag
I don't use. I have not used
this account for years.

Account 2. I have a microsoft account with an email
that I don't want and don't monitor the inbox of, but a gamertag I do use. I
have an xbox live subscription with this account.

How I got in this mess is a story from about 10 years ago.

What I want to do is change the email address of Account 2 to be the email address of Account 1. I cannot do this because the email for Account 1 is in use.

Should I:

a. Close Account 1

b. Then will I be able to change the email of Account 2 to my preferred email that used to be on Account 1?

I am going to get an Office 365 subscription soon so I want to do this tidy up first please.

A bit of friendly banter about your setups!

I tend to keep my setup tidy, but lately it's been a bit messy. Since I rearranged my room, I haven't had time to tidy up the wires and such, and my games are scattered everywhere (though I make sure to keep the games in their cases!). I don't have a kinect,
which is fine since I don't care for it too much. But I do have a set of Turtle Beach X12s that have the LONGEST cords I've ever seen in my life, and they're pretty much all over the place too. Lol.

Might be my project for tomorrow: Total house clean up.

Are you able to connect to Xbox Live with your Mr Messy Pants account?

Also, have you changed the Microsoft account associated with that GT or have you changed that GT since you created the account?

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the two Microsoft accounts.

In this scenario, you definitely can change the
alias, see the

Manage aliases on your Microsoft account article.

For instance, with Account 1 you will want to free up the email you do want to use. Try creating another email by going into

1. Sign in to the
   Microsoft account website. You may be asked to verify that you're the account owner. Select
   Your info.
2. Select Manage your sign-in email or phone number.
   • Create an email using the outlook.com option
3. Select Make primary next to the alias you want as your primary.

For the second account, once you have freed your email. You may do the same steps as posted above to add the new email and make it primary.

Try this out and let us know the results.
